Arkady Martine won the most prestigious science fiction award last night for her novel A Desolation Called Peace, a follow-up to her novel A Memory Called Empire, which itself won a Hugo in 2020.
The winners of the 2022 Hugo Awards, Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book, and Astounding Award for Best New Writer were announced on Sunday, September 4, 2022, during a formal ceremony at Chicon 8, the 80th World Science Fiction Convention.
The winners are:

- Best Novelette: Bots of the Lost Ark by Suzanne Palmer
- Best Short Story: Where Oaken Hearts Do Gather by Sarah Pinsker

- Best Graphic Story or Comic: Far Sector written by N.K. Jemisin, art by Jamal Campbell
- Best Related Work: Never Say You Can’t Survive by Charlie Jane Anders
- Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form: Dune
- Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form: The Expanse: Nemesis Games
- Best Editor, Short Form: Neil Clarke
- Best Editor, Long Form: Ruoxi Chen
- Best Professional Artist: Rovina Cai
- Best Semiprozine: Uncanny Magazine
- Best Fanzine: Small Gods Lee Moyer and Seanan McGuire
- Best Fancast: Our Opinions Are Correct
- Best Fan Writer: Cora Buhlert
