Reviews

Guidelines and Submission Form

We are interested in reviews covering any form of entertainment — books, movies, TV Shows, videogames, and so on — as long as it falls into the science fiction, fantasy or horror genres. We prefer a word count between 500 and 800 words, but also accept longer pieces if you are writing a listicle, such as “Ten Best Fantasy Novels Involving Dogs.”

We do not pay for book reviews, but do pay for original speculative fiction. Read more about that here.

If you have an idea brewing for an original review, and want to know if it’s a good fit for our publication, please email reviews editor Amira Loutfi at [email protected], with the subject line “Review/Essay Pitch,” along with a sample of your writing. You can also email her if you have any questions about the submission process.

By submitting your work below, you affirm that you are the original writer of the review, and that you have rights to any images included. If your piece is accepted for publication, we will send you a contract giving us non-exclusive rights to edit and publish it, edits subject to your approval. You will receive a byline, an author bio at the bottom of each of your pieces, and a spot on our contributors list. You can include all of your platform links in your bio.

  • Please put name of the book, film, or show you're reviewing in the title, or the title of your list article, such as, "Best 10 dogs in fantasy novels."
  • Please write a summary, tag line or blurb about your submission, 50 words or less.
  • Please include links to the show or movie home page, to YouTube trailers, or to the Amazon book page,
  • Please submit a one or two-sentence biography. Feel free to include links to your Amazon book page, author website, or social media pages.
  • Please submit a square headshot.
